Peugeot sold 29.4 per cent more cars in April 2010 than the same month last year, figures released by the French marque showed.
The success could be down to two new model launches this year; the Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008. Both models exceeded expectations in both retail and fleet markets, claims Peugeot.
The Peugeot 3008 hatch-MPV crossover was recently named What Car? Car of the Year 2010 and the Peugeot 5008 made it a double victory for Peugeot at the awards after winning the best MPV title.
Together the two new models have reached nearly 6,000 sales in the first four months of the year.
Diesel Peugeot models sold particularly well in April, with sales up by 53.4 per cent. This could be down to strong sales of LCVs such as the Peugeot Bipper, which rose 12.2 per cent – more than double that of the market as a whole.
Peugeot is the top-selling French manufacturer in the UK LCV market, with models such as the Bipper, Tepee and Boxer van selling consistently well.
