Citroen has launched its unique ‘Steet Mapper’ online videos and the subject of the latest episode London-based artist and skater Nick Jensen.
Designed as a quasi-viral internet campaign to market the Citroen DS3, the thinking behind the videos is to explore urban culture across European cities such as Berlin, London and Paris to highlight the DS3’s urban-driving qualities.
The video is fun – featuring some nice music and plenty of impressive skateboard tricks as Jensen takes us through ‘his London’. Jensen is perhaps not the most charismatic of subjects, but the video is packed with urban style.
Which brings us to the car itself. The DS3 is a highly customisable car designed for Urban driving and is marketed to this end. Offering a sportier drive than the C3, the Citroen DS3 is a new model in the luxury D-line series.
The idea is interesting and refreshing, and Citroen must be applauded for looking at new ways to market the car designed for urban driving. The Citroen DS3 is the first car from the marque – and one of the first ever – to be marketed so aggressively through social media, and it certainly won’t be the last.
Overall there will be nine videos over nine weeks, with a different subject in each.
