Hi there Garon, and thanks for your query. Sadly, for the UK Scrappage Scheme it's the first UK registration that counts, not the actual age of the vehicle. We pleased you noticed the Perrys offer, but that was only for August and that promotion is now over. I suggest that you give your nearest Perrys Dealer a call (you can get the Phone Number from the Perrys website) and ask the Sales Exec there what options are available to you to exchange your daughter's car.

my daughter has a mazda mx5 that she wants to use as scrappage, however we have been told that we cannot do this as it was first registered in the uk in 2001. in actual fact the car is an import and is actually 19 years old, can this still qualify for scrappage or will you do the offer that you were doing the other week for cars older that six years.

"how long before that hold is crammed with them?" Many, many years if at all. The global warming scam is starting to fall apart and once people realise how they have literally been taken for a ride, they will not support politicians efforts to keep pouring our subsidy money into non-viable options.

Interesting question Ron. I had to check back with my contacts deep in the Perrys 'back room', for the answer. Apparently the government originally was set to accept SORN'ed vehicles as part of the scrappage scheme, but has had second thoughts since, so sadly as things stand now, you can't get the scrappage allowance of £2000 off a new car, with your SORN'ed Daewoo. A dealer would probably accept the car in part exchange for a new car, but I couldn't say how much you'd get - depends on condition, so you'll need to ask around.
